Daniel R. Piacitelli

PhD Candidate

Rutgers University

I am a computational astrophysicist studying the circumgalactic medium of dwarf galaxies to refine galaxy simulations and deepen our understanding of the baryon cycle in the low-mass regime.

Areas of Research

Currently, I utilize cosmological simulations to understand the circumgalactic medium (CGM) of dwarf galaxies. These low-mass halos are uniquely sensitive to feedback processes and are therefore expected to play an important role in enriching the Universe in metals and to be powerful testing sites for simulated physics.

Beyond Research

I also work on multiple initiatives aimed to support undergraduates in astronomy at the local and national level.
